A collaboration project in Lake Como, Italy during my 3rd year of Undergrad. Students were brought together to craft a new modality of storytelling in its thriving cultures of artisanship, Architecture, Landscape and Textiles.
We used the practice of Transmedia.
Transmedia is a technique using new and old media tools integrated with data visualization to tell stories through multiple scale-able platforms. Not only are they linked but are in narrative synchronization with each other.
This experience inspired me to take up film making and integrate it with Architecture academically and professionally.
Trekking across my mother land, India after college graduation.
Photographs taken are of Calcutta, New Delhi and Bangalore,
One of my favorite Architecture and Engineering projects in the world. The High Line is the result of great urban design, engineering, landscape architecture and horticulture.
This abandoned rail line was re-purposed and retrofitted to dynamic mix of public spaces that serves as a connector threading its way across the west side in New York City. The elevated view gives a unique perspective of the city. Primarily due to its integration of hardscapes and landscapes yet keeping its historic preservation alive. This has inspired developers and urban planners to re-purpose dormant infrastructure as dynamic public spaces all over the world.
It is bold and forward thinking. This elevated park not only is a great way to commute to your destination, but it is one itself. Public events, performances, fashion shows, gardening lessons, fitness activities, art installations, film screenings, pop up shops are serviced here. These turn into public facing events that makes it a unique outdoor experience.
The High Line was a collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, James Corner (Field Operations), garden designer Piet Oudolf and the people of New York City.
My first Art Exhibition, held in the re-purposed Wonderbread building at Imperial Avenue in the summer of 2014.
The work displayed were my Architectural Illustrations, “Floating Cities and Monoliths”. (Which can be seen in Ske-trations)
Exploring Marfa, Alpine, San Angelos, Dallas, Houston and Big Bend with Texan friends.
The open road, marveling architecture, urban/landscape designs, historic landmarks, alleys, abandoned car lots, boot factory’s were a great experience.
Most importantly the Texas hospitality is special.
After seeing SCI- Arch graduate student presentations, me and couple of friend’s scaled up architect’s Eric Owen Moss’s buildings. That includes the Samitaur Tower, the Umbrella, the Cactus Tower and Vespertine.
The shipping containers that creates an outlet of boutique shops for apparel and a restaurant. An all around entertainment space. The containers are perfect for the arid and humid climate of El Paso. Building codes are minimal. DIY creative fabrication options and therefore reduction of construction time is ideal. Metal is also a great conductor. Therefore insulation controls temperature very well and reduces heating/cooling costs.
This was unique to me because the second story roof was fabricated with decking, benches and steel planters.
